Haukur Ingi Jonasson (Cand. theol., University of Iceland; STM, PhD, Union Theological seminar); clinical training in pastoral counselling, Lennox Hill Hospital; psychoanalytical training, Harlem Family Institute New York City; is an assistant professor at the Reykjavik University School of Science and Engineering.

He heads the MPM (Master in Project Management) programme at the university. He is a psychoanalyst in private practice and a management consultant at Nordica Consulting Group ehf; As a consultant, his clients have included the energy companies, banks, hospitals, the government and other public and private organisations.

Biography – Helgi Thor Ingasson

Professor at School of Science and Engineering, Reykjavik University, Iceland.

Helgi IngassonDr Helgi Thor Ingason holds a PhD in process metallurgy from the Norwegian Institute of Technology and an MSc in mechanical and industrial engineering from the University of Iceland.

He is an associate professor in industrial engineering at the University of Iceland and lectures in project management, quality management, facilities planning and process metallurgy.

He is the head of the Master in Project Management (MPM) program at the university and a main lecturer in the program. Helgi Thor is a co-founder and chairman of Alur, alvinnsla hf, a recycling company that works with the aluminium industry in Iceland.

Merron Simpson - smallMerron Simpson is founding director of New Realities Limited www.newrealities.co.uk. She is a thought leader, a national and local advisor on ‘people, places and housing’ including strategic planning.

Merron is the UK’s Lead on OpenStrategies and a Certified Facilitator/Practitioner. She uses OpenStrategies with organisations to improve their strategic planning, undertake service reviews and demonstrate their social impact.

She is Housing and Health Lead for the NHS Alliance and is a former Head of Policy at the Chartered Institute of Housing. She has been a member of the TCPA Policy Council and a Trustee of a small housing association.

Merron has worked with housing associations, local authorities and social enterprises as well as many national organisations and has researched and authored publications on a wide range of topics.

She has a Masters in Housing Studies, a Degree in Biochemistry, a Diploma in Applied Management, and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Housing.

Biography – Paul Kidston

Paul KidstonPaul is the Head of Project Control for Taylor Woodrow, the Civil Engineering division of Vinci Construction, part of one of the largest construction and concessions groups in the world.

He has been involved in a wide range of complex projects under a variety of different contract situations, in a variety of sectors including high profile public buildings, office developments, railways and large civil construction projects.  Clients have included Crossrail, Network Rail, LUL, Goldman Sachs, BAA and the Corporation of London.

After a career in a variety of production roles, working up from an engineering role into project Management, Paul introduced the relatively unknown technique of Earned Value Analysis into, first the Project he was working on and then into the business.  At around this time he started attending the EVA in the UK events, and soon after started speaking regularly at these events!

Paul has presented on, and written many articles on matters relating to Project Controls. He has spoken at EVA in the UK events on half a dozen occasions.  He was one of the authors of the CIOBs book, “Guide to Good Practice in the Management of Time in Complex Projects” and is the lead author of the APM’s first comprehensive guide to project planning “Planning, Scheduling, Monitoring and Control”
